Roger Berliner

Roger Berliner brings to our Board deep experience in energy and environmental public policy at every level of government—city, county, regional, state legislature, Congress and the Executive Branch—including 12 years as a county councilmember (equivalent to a County Commissioner) in Montgomery County, Maryland. A nationally recognized regulatory and legislative attorney, Roger was invited for over a dozen years to the Aspen Institute’s premier energy policy gathering.

Having repeatedly tasted the beauty of summer in Aspen, shortly after Roger’s service in Maryland ended, he and his better half, Karen, and their two pups found their new home in the Roaring Fork Valley. It wasn’t long before Roger took his expertise to the Clean Energy Economy for the Region (CLEER), a Carbondale environmental non-profit, where he served as CLEER’s Regulatory Advisor before the Colorado PUC. Roger’s commitment to his new community is also reflected in his service on the Board of the community owned weekly newspapers, the Sopris Sun and Sol de Valle. Last, but not least, Roger has had the privilege of serving as a Big Buddy in the valley.

“So very grateful for this opportunity to be in service to our planet and our mountain communities.”
