Throughout her career, Michelle has dedicated her efforts towards public service and community empowerment. She previously served in two municipal board member and chair capacities that promoted apt use of key natural resources, ecological & cultural diversity, and socio-economic vitality. During her time in the City of Aspen, Michelle helped to develop a community sustainability report containing 67 environmental, economic, and social sustainability metrics.

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminology from the University of Florida and minors in Leadership and Sustainability Studies. Michelle also holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a concentration in local government management. There, she co-wrote The Citizens Academy Handbook: Building Capacity for Local Civic Engagement (2017).
